Small Business Tools
The vision of working in private practice as an IBCLC began for me back in 2011. Since then, I have been piecing together the framework incrementally, moving at the pace of a snail for the first 5 or 6 years. During this time, I utilized my local Small Business Development Center (SBDC), which is locally housed within Ohio University, to learn more about the business side of my vision. You are probably reading this, wondering to yourself where you might begin your private practice journey. I promise you will not regret beginning with a call to your local SBDC. This initial meeting has connected me with countless other opportunities, particularly, being connected with unique working groups of students from the Ohio University College of Business. I had a whole team of college students, majoring in business assigned to working on my real life business as a project for class, it was amazing and I am so grateful. Networking leads to opportunity. I can confidently say, without a doubt, utilizing my resources locally has been just as important to my success in private practice, as learning from other private practice IBCLCs has been.
I would also like to take this opportunity to proclaim my gratitude for technology! It has become SO much easier to work independently because the tools to do so are available to us. In light of this, along with adding Private Practice Mentoring to my service menu, I am creating a list of my favorite online tools and services. They are all extremely important to how I run my practice. The availability of these small business tools and services is a huge part of the reason I can do what I do. I am happy to share my experiences or answer any questions you may have. The following blocks contain referral codes and/or affiliate links and I may earn a reward or commission if you utilize any of these online services via the following links. I do this to share the tools I love most that help me do what I love, and hopefully they can help you do what you love too.
